Golden Explosion Cake

  • Posted on October 25, 2008 at 5:02 pm

A stunning and fun cake which literally explodes with fun and ribbons, spirals of gold, gold dashes and golden pearl balls are thrown over the cake, lifted by a pretty hand painted sugar plaque to keep and remember the event.

This cake is made from triple layer Madagascan Vanilla sponge cake with extra strawberry jam and whipped buttercream, finished in white fondant and of course the stunning decorations!   A second cutting cake in Chocolate was also ordered at the same time to provide the special guests with a choice and a chance of seconds!

Fresh Flowers Birthday Cake

A truly exquisite cake for a special birthday.

This cake is a 10″ all butter fruit cake, moist, rich and firm made with delicious brandy soaked fruit, cherries, free range eggs, flaked almonds and crisp walnuts.  It is coated with quality marzipan and white fondant icing, finished with intricate church window cut outs, dusted with sparkles in delicate lilac that melts into pink.  The hand piped and painted sugar plaque compliments the decoration, displays a special message and can be kept for many years.

But it is the beautiful fresh flower arrangement that really sets this cake apart.  The flowers are so delicate and arranged with care and love, fresh and perfectly formed.

Stunning Princess Bride Cake

  • Posted on October 5, 2008 at 10:34 pm

The detail is foremost in this cake.  The brief was ‘a beautiful Princess Bride cake’ and that is what I created for a special little girl’s birthday.  The bride is so beautiful and her dress exquisite, with a pearl crown and necklace and a gorgeous gown of cake and sugar frills, silk dupion drapes and ribbons, with a pearl trim around the platform cake and a handmade sugar plaque.

The placement in the ribbon gives the cake a sense of movement and the delicate veil and butterfly resting on her hand finishes this lovely cake, made in moist Madagascan vanilla.

I really enjoyed making and decorating this cake and was thrilled with the recipient’s delight.
