Latest flavour – Pistachio and cherry!
The glorious pistachio nuts make a sublime sponge, filled with a tangy cherry jam and creamy, light pistachio butter cream. We use plenty of nuts and fill with generous amounts of jam, this new combination, introduced to us by a Canadian bride, is a feast of flavours, and will be gone too quickly ……

We are getting more and more requests for special dietary needs, and at Cakeadelic we try hard to oblige! Some of the requests recently have been eggless, coeliac and virtually fat free. Its not always possible to have the same texture and taste as a traditional sponge cake but we will try very hard and you may be surprised by the results.

We are always up for a challenge. Recently a client from Leeds called me because a cake they had made by another supplier and carried down South for the party, hadn’t survived the journey. It was in pieces. It was a 3 tier 60th wonky birthday cake – those wonky cakes are always very tricky at the best of times. Overnight we re-seated the layers on firm bases and underpinned the cake with proper dowelling. By 10am the following morning the cake was again ready for a fantastic party!

We recently made a fab tractor cake for the Museum of English Rural Life (MERL) to celebrate 60 years of both the museum and The Archers radio series. There is an article in Getreading with a photo of the very cake! Click here to take a look.

As usual, Squires Kitchen held a great exhibition of sugarcraft and cake-making this year. If you fancy an interesting day out, why not look out for their exhibition around March next year! The great Eddie Spence was there in person, signing books, giving hints, tips and demonstrations. All fascinating stuff for those of us into the subject.

I attended a great Wedding Fair at Bearwood Lakes Golf Course this weekend. Its a fantastic venue near Wokingham, which I can definitely recommend. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable – and I’m sure they would make your day special. Simon Alexander was also at the fair. He is a brilliant magician, and if you fancy adding some special sparkle to your wedding, why not contact him.
